300
This is the maximum number of blogs I can follow at any one time. I’ve found that anything over 300 and it all becomes white noise. My biggest challenge is deciding who to unfollow each time there’s a new blog I like.
The one thing I was really happy about with Twitter is their lists. I follow an extreme amount of people, but because they are all broken out by subject / category, it makes cutting through the noise that much easier.
Tumblr has something similar with Tags, but being able to create lists of those you’re already following would be great.

Why must you keep up with every post on each blog? For me, I follow the ones I care about most via RSS and use tumblr as an entertainment aggregator for me. I follow many blogs in hopes there’s always something to view when I want it.
